Well, here it is folks, our very first blog.
At 3.30pm on the 14th July Roy and I will set off from Trafalgar Square London on the fist leg of a 2,900Kl charity motor rally to Red Square Moscow in aid of BEN, the Motor & Allied Trades Benevolent Fund.
For the past five months we have been working hard to prepare our trusty steed, a 1964 Ford Anglia 105E which, having undergone an almost complete rebuild and respray,(courtesy of Jags Bodyshop), is now in fine fettle and ready to go.
Since we decided to participate in this event we have received tremendous support from within the motor industry with Ford Motor Company Limited kindly paying our entry fee and Burton Performance Centre, Ferraris Piston Services, Cobra Seats ALK Technologies "CoPilot", Lumenition, Millers Oils, NGK and Hella providing much needed essential parts free of charge.
Our aim is to raise at least £15,000.00 for this very worthy charity and todate we have received pledges and donations totalling almost £10,000.00.
Anyone out there wishing to support our entry can do so by sending a cheque to BEN at the address on their website http://www.ben.org.uk/ Please remember to write "Ford Anglia" on the back of the cheque.
Once the event is under way, we will hopefully be posting daily reports on our progress.
